Comfort Verses

Pastor Mike here – Some people were asking for the Bible verses I was using this past Sunday, so I thought I might post them here. Also, I thought this might be a great opportunity for you guys to share what verses bring you comfort in the midst of your troubles & hardships. Why not take a moment now & post them below. They just might be what someone needs to hear!

John 16:25-33 (NIV)

25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

31 “You believe at last!” Jesus answered. 32 “But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Psalm 25:16-22 (NLT)

16 Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone and in deep distress. 17 My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! 18 Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. 19 See how many enemies I have and how viciously they hate me! 20 Protect me! Rescue my life from them! Do not let me be disgraced, for in you I take refuge. 21 May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. 22 O God, ransom IsraelĀ from all its troubles.

I lift my eyes to the hills, where my help comes from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 NIV

A wonderful woman of God gave me this verse many years ago and it is one of those verses that have always stuck in my head in time of trouble. So I pray this will bless someone else now.

    1 Peter 5:6-11 (NIV)
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:29-31.

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves there of are still. -psalm 119:130

Cast all of your anxieties on the Lord, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
