We hope you’ve been enjoying our current Shipwrecks series. If the whole idea of shipwrecks interests you, then you might want to check out the following:
Visit Long Island Shipwrecks where you can learn about Long Island shipwrecks, when they went down & where, as well as other facts.
Also, there’s an exhibit hosted by Discovery called Titanic: the Artifact Exhibition in NYC that runs through the end of December. Visit their website for more info. Aside from being an interesting exhibit, this might also be a great opportunity to invite a friend & listen to week one of the Shipwrecks series together for further discussion.
Just a note, we are not connected to either organization in any way. We just thought given our current series, these might be of interest.

In this encore presentation of our six-week series, Shipwrecks (the very first message series that True North launched with), Pastor Bert examines the lessons we can learn from actual shipwrecks that occurred. Join us beginning October 18th – 9:30, 11 am, or 7:30 pm. Invite a friend!

Pastor Bert talked last week in part one of the TXT series asked the question “Can we trust the Bible?” and spent some time unpacking the origins of the Bible. If you would like more in-depth information & the ability to explore more, North Point Ministries has set up a page on their Starting Point site with a ton of PDF documents that you can download. Here’s a sample of some of the things you’ll find:
How was the Bible formed?
What about the contradictions in the Bible?
What about the Apocrypha?
Why are there so many Bible translations?
How do I read the Bible?
And many more…
All PDF documents are free.

In this three-part series, we learn that God has, in fact, sent us a message–it’s called the Bible. In this amazing collection of writings, you’ll find poetry, prophecy, biography, war, sex, and betrayal. And most importantly, you’ll find the story of a loving Father who goes to incredible lengths to redeem his children. The message is waiting. Have you read it?

Pastor Mike here – Some people were asking for the Bible verses I was using this past Sunday, so I thought I might post them here. Also, I thought this might be a great opportunity for you guys to share what verses bring you comfort in the midst of your troubles & hardships. Why not take a moment now & post them below. They just might be what someone needs to hear!
John 16:25-33 (NIV)
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”
29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”
31 “You believe at last!” Jesus answered. 32 “But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Psalm 25:16-22 (NLT)
16 Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone and in deep distress. 17 My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! 18 Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. 19 See how many enemies I have and how viciously they hate me! 20 Protect me! Rescue my life from them! Do not let me be disgraced, for in you I take refuge. 21 May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. 22 O God, ransom Israel from all its troubles.
